Mon Feb 6: Approval of a development application from Burwood Council means that the Coronation Club has got the go-ahead to receive new construction work. After approval was granted, a lengthy tender process ensued and was eventually awarded to James Clifford Construction.
Carolynne Williams, CEO of the Coronation Club, is asking members to be patient and understanding during the construction process. “It will undoubtedly be a difficult few months for the Club, and you are asked to give your full support during the refurbishment, with the understanding that things may not be quite as comfortable and roomy as before,” she said. “This will only be for a few months and the end result, with a refurbished/roomier trading floor, new lift, new snooker rooms etc will make the temporary pain worthwhile.”
The only change to trading will be no functions or conferences and no snooker tables during the construction period. The club will be shut on February 20 to move poker machines.
