“I would like to congratulate Mr Laundy on his re-election to Reid,” says Burwood Mayor, Cr John Faker.

Mayor Faker also welcomed Mr Laundy’s announcement on 23 June  to provide $1 million funding to Wangal Park if the Turnbull Government was re-elected.

Mr Laundy’s election promise to commit funds to Wangal Park came as somewhat of a surprise to the Burwood Mayor when Council officers learned of the additional funding on this website.

“Wangal Park has truly become an oasis in the heart of the region since the wetlands were opened in October last year. This additional funding will allow us to fast track the remainder of the project including the construction of new playgrounds, courts and facilities which will greatly benefit our community.”

The wetlands at Wangal Park were officially opened in October 2015 with the remainder of the park scheduled to open in late 2016.
