Fired up over drive-by shootings

Why is it that guns  even have a place, let alone are an issue, in society?

However, news this week that there has been a tenth drive-by shooting in south Sydney has proved yet again that we live in a society where violence is accepted and celebrated. Video games stimulate violence by positioning players in the position of shooters. Most action flicks feature gun chases and blood-thirsty violence. To many, these set an unhealthy example for modelling their behaviour.

According to one media report, there have been drive-by shootings in Sydney since 1929. Just how far have we really come?

The campaign to make guns illegal has been ongoing but is yet to come to fruition. What is it going to take for politicians to take action on these unnecessary objects?

It’s time to open fire on guns.
